Dr George Kaponides is Professor of Neurology at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He has previously held the position of Co-Chair of the Department of Basic & Clinical Sciences at the same University.
Dr Kaponides graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Karolinska Institute and specialised in Neurology at the Karolinska University Hospital, both in Stockholm, Sweden. He has worked for several years in Stockholm but also in Limassol.
He has held the position of president of the Cyprus Neurological Society for 7 years and is also the national representative for Cyprus at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) for the fields of Stroke and Neurorehabilitation, as well as the national representative at the UEMS Section of Neurology/ European Board of Neurology.
He has a special interest in Cerebrovascular neurology, the Dementias, traumatic brain injury, Neurorehabilitation, Multiple Sclerosis, Post-polio syndrome and Botulinum toxin treatment for neurological conditions.
