Dr Makrides is a graduate of the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki Medical School, with specialization in Cardiology in Nicosia General Hospital and successful examinations in Cardiology in Thessaloniki-Greece.

He received training regarding new trends in echocardiography at Onassis Cardiac Center in Athens (stress echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, coronary flow reserve), as well as Carotid doppler in Tel Hashomer Hospital in Tel Aviv – Israel.

He is a member of the Cyprus, Greek and European Cardiology Societies, whereas from 2005 he took part in humanitarian missions with the Volunteer Doctors of Cyprus in places and countries where medical help was needed.

Dr Makrides’ research interests are in the fields of arterial hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation etc.), heart failure, as well as in the use of echocardiography for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies and cardiac abnormalities.
He has been providing educational work, teaching medical students in Cardiology at St George’s University of London and University of Nicosia Medical school, as an Associate Cardiologist.

Dr Makrides practices at a private Cardiology Centre in Limassol, since 2011.
