Cornea and External Eye Disease Consultant
Dr Michalis Palos is a graduate of Charles’s University in Prague, First Faculty of Medicine and specialized in Ophthalmology at the same university.
He received additional training for Cornea and External Eye Disease from Moorfields Eye Hospital London and from Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston.
He is a Cornea and External Eye Disease Consultant and worked at the position of Head of Cornea and External Eye Disease Department, General Teaching Hospital and Charles’s University in Prague, First Faculty of Medicine from November 2005 until June 2014.
In Prague he performed advanced training, education and research focused on corneal transplantation, new developments in corneal surgery and amniotic membrane transplantation. During his stay, his main fields of interest were management of severe cases of dry eyes, amniotic membrane transplantation in corneal melting and microperforation, corneal transplants, including acute keratoplasty and new developments in immunosuppressive treatment.
He has extensive experience with teaching of medical students, residents and trainees in Cornea and External Eye Disease Department, Ophthalmology Department of the General Teaching Hospital and Charles’s University in Prague, First Faculty of Medicine.
Since July 2014 he works as a Cornea and External Eye Disease Consultant in Pantheo Eye Centre, Limassol and participates in teaching of medical students of St. George’s University of Nicosia Medical School.
He has published numerous original articles and written chapters in ophthalmic textbooks.
